Dr. Luke Bowden is the director of distance learning at University of Louisiana at Layfayette. He has spent a lot of time researching academic integrity and student authentication and is a member of WCET’s CIG-Academic Integrity and Student Authentication. Based on that research, he is sharing the “Academic Integrity Self-Check”. To access the checklist, go to http://www.wcet.wiche.edu/ and click the link.
Dr. Bowden says “As an engaged participant in WCET’s CIG on Academic Integrity and Student Authentication, I continue to learn about the real complexities of building a campus culture of academic integrity. One take-away from the CIG discussions is the importance of understanding the faculty culture at your institution. As director of distance learning at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette, I need regular input from my faculty regarding the technologies and services I can provide to help them focus on their teaching priorities. One of those areas is promoting academic integrity. To that end, this Academic Integrity Self-Check is an excerpt from a more comprehensive faculty survey and a resource that may be useful to WCET members and other institutions committed to promoting the integrity of online programs. Feel free to use and adapt this self-check at your institution”!
