We are pleased to report that our first ever SmarterMeasure Users’ Group was a success! With 18 schools represented, it was a great time talking shop about how schools have used SmarterMeasure. We also welcomed our colleagues at Universityof Southern Indiana who were able to attend virtually. The day opened up with a warm bagel and welcome from Dr. Mac Adkins, our president. Shortly following was SmarterMeasure trivia! Three lucky volunteers all won Amazon gift cards. Julie Owen led the group in a presentation about Best Practices including Popularize, Plan, Personalize, Petition, Pursue, Produce and Present. Then after a short break Dr. Mac Adkins and Julie Bryant of Noel Levitz presented on a recent white paper “Online Student Readiness and Satisfaction Within Subpopulations”. Using data from the 2013 Student Readiness Report and the Priorities Survey for Online Learners (PSOL) they compared the data and provided strong correlations between non-cognitive skills and over all satisfaction connecting student readiness to retention. To close the Users’ Group there were round table discussions about research and technical matters. Participants agree it was time well spent and they are excited about the new ideas they learned. We are looking forward to next year!
