Are you measuring what matters about your students? What if faculty from over 80 institutions, employers from over 200 organizations, the National Research Council and the US Department of Education all recommended that you measure a factor about your students, would you measure it? At many institutions the non-cognitive attributes of students are not being measured. This presentation will explore methods of measuring non-cognitive skills as well as review good practices and research findings from institutions in responding to these measurements. When schools measure what matters they are better positioned to coach students into being stronger students, employees and citizens.
At the end of this presentation the participants will be able to:
• Recognize the importance of non-cognitive indicators of student success.
• Identify methods of measuring non-cognitive factors.
• Understand how other schools have improved student services using non-cognitive data.
